AC Milan were roundly beaten by Manchester United again today, and were ousted from the Champions League competition as a result. Wayne Rooney again scored two of United’s 4 goals (to Milan’s nil), which placed the score at 7-2 on aggregate.
It was deja vu for the Italian side, who were downed by a Rooney double at home last month. David Beckham was received well at Old Trafford, but played only 27 minutes as a second half substitute.
Elsewhere Real Madrid fell from grace and the tournament as they only managed a 1-1 draw with Lyon, 1-2 on aggregate. This marks the sixth year of the same Champions League fate for Real Madrid.
