Real Madrid sporting director Miguel Pardeza has stated that Madrid are unlikely to buy a defender in the January market to take the place of injured Pepe. Pepe will be out for approximately six months nursing a torn knee ligament picked up during the La Liga season. Pardeza even named potential replacements to fill in while Pepe’s away: Ezequiel Garay, Christoph Metzelder, Sergio Ramos and Alvaro Arbeloa.

Pardeza told the press, “We are combing the market and we are obliged to look at some options to see if there is anything interesting but the first solution is to look at what we have already and there are some very good players in the squad.”
