Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is being reported as a possible summer transfer target for Arsenal.
The People says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing Higuain in the event Robin van Persie leaves the Emirates in the summer.
This news comes on the back of similar reports linking Gunners star Robin van Persie with a move to Primera Division giants Barcelona.
Higuain would command a transfer fee of around £20 million, which is the sort of fee that flies in the face of Arsenal’s transfer policy. So, if Wenger is considering going for the Argentina international, he will have to sell at least one of his big name players first.
The 21 year old has been in red-hot form this season, but has been overlooked by coach Juande Ramos as a regular starter.
With the recent turmoil at Madrid, without a long-term manager and crashing out of the Champions League 5-0 on aggregate to Liverpool, it is believed that the club will have a major clear out in the summer, especially if a new manager is brought in to replace Juande Ramos, who took over until the end of the season.
The former River Plate striker has played 34 games for the club this season, scoring 19 goals.
