Andrea Dossena is headed to Napoli for a reported £4.5 million, and Liverpool are also about to finalize a deal for Maxi Rodriguez, according to multiple reports.

Dossena could not log much time at the Merseyside club, and according to the club’s website the defender only appeared twice this campaign, playing a combined 54 minutes.

“The player will arrive on a permanent basis with a contract for four-and-a-half years,” Dossena’s representative told ClickLiverpool.com.

The move from Melwood to Naples is all but completed, but because of blizzard-like conditions in the Liverpool area Dossena will have to wait until tomorrow to make the trip to Italy, also according to ClickLiverpool.com.<

The Mirror reports that Rodriguez, the out-of-favor midfielder from Atletico Madrid, should be in a Liverpool kit within the next 48 hours. Rodriguez has been pursued by other clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus, but their bids seem to be irrelevant if the move to Liverpool is as close as reported.

Rodriguez would be greatly needed depth for Liverpool in the midfield, as the club has had a myriad of injury problems throughout the season.

Ryan Babel, who has mightily struggled to secure a place at Liverpool, has long been thought to be moving to another club and possibly could be headed to Birmingham City. Rafael Benitez rejected a £9 million bid from Alex McLeish’s side today; Liverpool is interested in a price near £12 million. Besiktas and Fiorentina are also in the running for Babel’s services.

Benitez may not get £12 million for Babel, but he could possibly get close, which is certainly what the Reds are hoping for.
